* MVP Award Winner at BIP League
Brooklyn, NY - August 30, 2010
Melissa F. received WSP's Most Valuable Player award last Sunday night.
As co-captain of Berry Park, she helped take the newest team in the WSP to a second-place finish in the league tables. And it was a close finish too - just one point behind the league champions.
Melissa was also the highest female points earner at BIP.
Melissa's leadership and on-field performance were enough to win this award. But her exemplary efforts to help other teams also put her in the running. That is, Melissa has subbed for seven of eight teams at BIP. She even subbed for the league champions, who edged her team out by just a point in the league standings. Melissa also helped to arrange other subs for most WSP teams; not just at BIP but at HP.
Moreover, as captain, Melissa always ensures that everything is in order for her team. She's the first to inquire about subs from our waiting list if she needs players. She was the first to get all her team registered when she was captain of the Badgers and she did the same with Berry Park. And she's on top of our rules and regulations to such a degree that she only ever asks us if she's got something right on a particular issue - and she always has it right.
This season's MVP receives a $30 gift certificate from Greenpoint's newest and best Italian cafe, Milk & Roses (on Manhattan Avenue between Dupont and Clay).
