FC Headers Win First Cup Final

Brooklyn, NY - August 29, 2010

FC Headers defeated Team Hawk 2-0 in the WSP's Bushwick Inlet Park league on Sunday night.

Fernando C. of Argentina (pictured left) scored the only two goals of the match, revealing why he was last season's Golden Boot winner.

He scored many more goals last season but failed to translate in Spring's Cup Final. In Sunday's pre-match interview, he confidently expressed that the Cup would be theirs this time around, that he was going to score. He made good on his word, helping his team to carry home its first WSP award.

The only palatable scoring chance from Team Hawk came from the boot of Marianna R., who hit the cross bar from a darting run down the right with just 5 minutes left on the clock.

Hawks big forwards Andre A. and Brett G. were largely held at bay by a well moored defense. This gave FCH's midfielders and forwards the confidence to take searing chances up front.

Congratulations to Headers on a fine finish to a season that had them first in the league up to the final game. They dropped to fourth place after the last game in the regular season but rallied back in the Cup ties to show their true worth.
