LEAGUE at BUSHWICK INLET PARK (Co-ed, 7v7)

START DATE: Sunday, June 20, 2010

LOCATION: Bushwick Inlet Park's brand new turf field. BIP is just a five-minute walk from the Bedford L-stop (.1 miles closer than McCarren Park from the same stop), located on Kent Ave between North 7th and North 9th streets. Note: The Park is still called EAST RIVER STATE PARK on Google Maps.

WHEN: Sunday nights.

GAME TIMES & LENGTH: 8:05 pm and 9:10 pm kick-offs. Games are 60 minutes (30-minute halves). Compare to other leagues, some of which run as little as 23-minute halves for 7v7 soccer.

NUMBER OF GAMES: 10 games over 10 weeks. Compare to other leagues, most of which usually guarantee only 8 games in a 10-week season.

REGISTRATION FEE: $99 per player - plus an annual fee of $25 for United States Amateur Soocer Association membership. Your membership allows us to use USSF-certified referees, and it provides you with accident coverage when playing in our leagues. Compare to other, more expensive leagues, which have shorter game times, fewer games per season, no accident coverage, and referees without  USSF-certification. * The USASA membership fee is a one-time annual fee, and so all other 10-week soccer seasons in 2010 are a flat $99. Team jerseys will be provided by us.

FORMAT: 7v7. Co-ed. The points winner after an 8-game regular season is the LEAGUE CHAMPION. We will then have a CUP CHAMPIONSHIP at the end of the regular season - i.e., a knockout competition, involving all teams. So, there are two competitions up for grabs in one season! No other league in NYC offers this.

EVENTS

Every day is a WORLD SOCCER PROJECT event when you wear your WSP jersey at Brooklyn's best soccer bar:

BERRY PARK is the official bar, restaurant and football viewing establishment of The World Soccer Project's adult soccer league and soccer pick-up groups in Brooklyn. And the bar is supporting WSP's cause by donating one dollar from every beer you buy - when you're wearing your WSP jersey - to New York City's Fund for Public Schools.

BERRY PARK is just around the corner from Buswick Inlet Park - the site of WSP's inaugural league.

Check out their info at www.berryparkbk.com. It's a great place to meet before & after your games. You can catch Premiership and World Cup matches  on a 10 foot by 12 foot screen. The sound system is cracking. The food is delightful. And there are 16 ales on tap. If sitting inside watching football isn't your thing, check out the spacious roof deck with unobstructed views of the manhattan skyline.
